Festive Friday, Day #8: Holiday Re-cap & New Beginnings

Good morning, loyal readers!

Welcome to the

very last episode of Festive Friday!

As you are all aware, the holiday season has come to a close and we are now in the start of a brand new year. I hope you all had a great time celebrating with friends and family, but now as things start winding down, I hope you will make some time to tend to yourselves and your own needs.

For me, January symbolizes a time of re-birth and new beginnings. My birthday is on the 18th of the month and with the start of each year, I also get another year older almost right off the bat. This serves me as a wonderful reminder that the past is the past and with each year I am another year wiser and closer to my goals.

With that, in today’s post I wanted to share with you all a few festive pictures I took with my family using my new DSLR camera.

(again, not trying to seem as if I’m bragging, I just am so truly blessed)

This year, we had three separate Christmas parties. The first was on Christmas Eve at my Auntie and Uncle’s new house. It was a truly beautiful night and there are always so many of us that there is almost no room to sit or move about due to the amount of people and all the gifts. It’s like this nearly every year no matter how much space we have. I  love taking photos and capturing moments where it seems as if no one is paying attention. To capture these memories in their natural state helps me to appreciate everyone and everything as they are.

I was a little sad as not all members of my side of the family could make it. We had about half the amount of people that we usually do and it was hard to keep this off my mind throughout the night. However, I’m thankful for the time spent with those that were able to attend. What I wouldn’t give to have a Christmas where absolutely everyone was together again. THAT would be the greatest gift of all in my mind.

Christmas Day, we were able to stay in and celebrate with some members of my husband’s side of the family in our home. It was wonderful to have us all seated at in the dining room together and we had a great time catching up and playing our new holiday game. It very may well be a new tradition for us and everyone walked away a winner.

Lastly, we had a casual get together with one of our closest friends. We did a small gift exchange between the three of us at the end of the night and it was a wonderful way to end the festivities. My husband even slipped into his new warm and cozy jammies while we did our gift exchange before bed.

All of these photos and the people in them are so special to me. It warms my heart looking back at the memories we all got to make together. Family is truly a thing we should never take for granted. This is another area of my life I am grateful for and feel so lucky to be a part of.

I had an amazing time with my husband this past week. His presence, as well as his absence soon after, reminded me of all the time we can spend around our loved ones and all the little moments together we take for granted. My biggest resolution this year is to focus on our time together and to learn to appreciate each moment for what it is. I am going to strive to avoid all of the silly little conflicts and arguments over minute things.

With that, I want to thank you all so much for tuning into my holiday blog series! Now that Festive Friday has come to a close, I will be focusing more of my attention on my art and filming content for my YouTube and Patreon pages, so please be sure to be checking those out!
